“Bandai Sports” was founded in 1956. Originally, they manufactured all kinds of nets for sports, and at that time, they were handmade with the help of craftsmen who made fishing nets for such as Omori Beach and Kujukuri-Hama Beach. Then, they turned to the current sporting goods store. They named the store Bandai Sports from the Bandai Bridge over the Shinano River, which did not collapse during the Niigata earthquake. “This typeface? I’ve been told for some time that it is an unusual typeface. We thought it wouldn’t be interesting if it were just a standard typeface, so we asked a designer to create it for our shop. It was rare for a sports shop to create such an elaborate typeface. For some reason, we had that kind of feeling back then.” Seiichi Kasahara and Osamu Kasahara, who runs the store, said. They also design uniforms and numbers themselves when they receive orders.
