角という概念が無い。粘性を帯びた液体となり、何かに溶け込もうとしているかのようである。摑みどころが無いようでいて、どこか真面目。上手くいえないが、そんな書体である。

「ヒロセ理髪店」は大正時代から続く理髪店。現在は三代目。剛道さんは三人兄弟の長男。「あの頃は、親の職業を継ぐのが当たり前だったから。床屋以外の道を考えなかったね」と語る。中学校を出てすぐに九段にある美容師学校に一年間通い、その後すぐに働き出したそう。現在は家族３人で切り盛りしており、剛道さんは昔ながらのお客さんを、奥さんがご婦人を、娘さんはお子さんを担当しているのだそう。看板を取り付けたのはお店を新築した昭和54年。親戚の看板屋さんに筆で書いてもらった文字をもとにしているそう。もともとは真っ青な看板だったが、経年変化で色は薄れ、味のある佇まいに。そしてつい最近、また当時の色に塗り直しをして、ピカピカの状態に。
“Hirose Barber Shop” has been in business since the Taisho Era (1912-1926). He is now the third generation. Takemichi is the oldest of three brothers and sisters. “In those days, it was natural to follow in the footsteps of one’s parents, so I didn’t think of any other path than being a barber,” he says. He attended a hairdressing school in Kudan, Tokyo for one year right after graduating from junior high school and started working right after that. His family of three now runs the shop, with Takemichi taking care of the traditional customers, his wife taking care of the ladies, and their daughter taking care of the children. The signboard was installed in 1979 when the shop was newly built. It is based on letters written with a brush by a relative who is a signboard maker. Originally, the signboard was bright blue. As time goes on, the color faded and gave it a tasteful appearance. And just recently, it was repainted back to its original color, making it shiny and new again.
