「カシワヤ」はオリンピックの年の1962年に日暮里で開業した美容室だ。もともとは浅草にあった「カシワヤ」から高橋さんが独立し、屋号をのれんわけした形となる。現在でも残っている看板の文字は40年ほど前に当時の従業員のみなさんでスケッチし、そこから看板屋さんに発注してできたそうだ。「仕事柄ね、かわいく柔らかくいきたい。みんなの憩いの場所としながら綺麗になる、美しくなる場所と思っています。」そんなお店の雰囲気を体現したような、くるんとしたかわいい看板文字である。
“Kashiwaya” is a hair salon that opened in Nippori, Tokyo in 1962, the year of the Tokyo Olympics. “Kashiwaya” was originally established in Asakusa, and Ms. Takahashi was given that name and split the brand. The letters on the signboard which still remains today were sketched by its employees at that time about 40 years ago, and ordered it the signboard maker. “I want the letters to be cute and gentle because here is a place where everyone can relax while also being beautiful,” The cute, rounded letters on the sign embody the atmosphere of her shop.
